Google has rolled out the new version of Google Analytics and I just received the announcement through my email.  Google said that the new version will make it easier for webmaster to browse their data. If you have activated the new version earlier, you might have already enjoyed these new features.

Despite the disappointed privacy issue, these new data available on Google Analytics might become a good medicine for the pain :)

Being #1 Is Not Enough

Remember this famous heat map illustration

Heatmap

With the many changes happened on the SERPs layout, I don't think that the heat map illustration illustrate the current search users behavior. And also the "70% clicks happen on the top 5 search result" statement is not acceptable anymore.

Right now when user search for queries on Google, the universal search result will show maps, places, images, and videos that will definitely lowered the value of #1 trophy. And the search ad will make it even worst for SEOs.

Being #1 on SERPs is not enough. SEOs now have to think about how to keep generating organics traffics as it used to be by being the #1.

Title and Description

When your website included on a search result, you want to make sure that people who are looking on the search result are interested to click your website. Search engine use page title <title> and description <meta name=”description”> for their search result. What you need to is to add page title and description that can attract the search visitor.

My tips on this is to add keywords on your page title, make it unique for every single page, use persuasive words on your page title, and make sure that your mete description really describe what the page is all about.

Media Optimization

Optimizing all the media you have on your site has become more and more important now. The way that Google show images and video result on their SERPs can really help you keep the value of your SEOs or even better. Here are simple step to do that

Local Listing

Start to add you website / business to local listing. SE like Google use local listing to give more value for use searching on something local. I would suggest you to start with Google Places.

Well, hope that help!

It's 2 months!

I remember when Graham replied my job application I sent from LinkedIn. We then met at Starbucks, Metropolitan I in Sudirman. Hari was also there for the interview.

Excited? Yes I'm super excited!

I am newbie in travel industry. Although I love to travel, but I've never work at travel companies nor have clients on that industry. Wego / HolidayIQ is my first place to learn the industry better.

Researching the market, setting up the targets, optimizing the website and analyzing the SEO performances has become my daily job at Wego / HolidayIQ for the last 2 months. And it was fun!

Like what I always believe, working on something you like is every men dreams. Being paid is just another bonus.

Right now I'm looking forwards for more exciting experiences at Wego / HolidayIQ.

Dear Google, FUCK with your privacy!

A bit late .. But it's better that not saying anything at all about this!

Story start when Google announced to hides search referral data with new SSL implementation for the sake of privacy. Google users who are logged in to Google will automatically use SSL for their search activities. When they click on organic search result, Google will hide the search queries they use to website owners.

The "bad effect"

It's difficult for website owners to track on their SEOs campaign performance. Although some Googlers said that this change will only affect very small percentage the search data. But hey! No matter how small the data is, it's still important for us to improve our SEOs campaign. More over to give more value to our users.

But is it true that this is about privacy! No it is not! Since Google are still sending complete referal data for Adwords advertising. I believe what many people believes. This is purely 100% another Googles effor to earn more money and eliminate their opponents.

Referal data, especially keywords, has been used for long by advertising company -other than Google- to enhance their clients campaign. By hiding this data, advertising company will find it more difficult to survive. -I can clearly see the evil now!

The war between SEOs and Google has started already early this week. And I think I'm in to war with Google. Fuck with your privacy.

p.s. Here's awesome video from Rand of SEOMoz on how we can -win- fight better over this.
